Important information on the use of OPF and catalyst replacement pipes
The use of OPF (Otto particulate filters) and catalyst replacement tubes is strictly prohibited in public road traffic in accordance with the regulations of Section 30 of the Road Traffic Authorisation Regulation (StVZO). These regulations are designed to meet the legal emission standards and minimise the environmental impact of harmful exhaust gases. Vehicles operated without proper particle filters or catalytic converters must therefore not be legally moved in road traffic.
The use of such replacement tubes is only allowed in special areas of application, including:
-
Racing – The use on closed-off race tracks, where no statutory emission regulations apply and a modified exhaust system is permitted.
-
Show purposes – For vehicle exhibitions or presentations on private grounds, where the vehicle is not moved in public transport.
-
Export – For vehicles intended for export to countries where different legal requirements apply and such exhaust systems are permitted.
It is essential to inform yourself about the regulations applicable in your country before installing or using OPF or catalyst replacement tubes. Violation of these provisions may result in significant legal consequences, such as heavy fines, the shutdown of the vehicle or the withdrawal of the operating license.
